May 2023 Istanbul: Unconscious Communication
Working with clients’ silence and vulnerability within the transference & countertransference
19th, 20th, 21st May 2023
For many psychotherapists and counsellors, clients’ silence, lack of memory and withdrawal can be a challenge. In this workshop participants will understand and learn how to work with clients’ unconscious communication – decoding the stories that are hidden in their relational patterns, their sense of emptiness, their physiological symptoms, their absence or exaggeration of affect and habitual worries.
Ruth will discuss how therapists can create a language to name the unnamed and help clients communicate their unbearable feelings and thoughts. Ruth will also explore clients’ unconscious communication through the transference with the therapist and the transference of everyday life, and through therapists’ own responses to them – countertransference.
Through lecture, case discussions and live therapy demonstration, this workshop will focus on the significance of a contactful and involved therapeutic relationship.
